Two Weeks and Getting So Big Already

Isabelle is two months old this week!  She's been making a lot more sounds and loves to smile when we talk to her.  She has also started to become more interesting in grabbing object so we've gotten some new toys out to play with.  Isabelle still doesn't like tummy time very much yet - but we're working on it!  She has been enjoying going to storytime at the library (we managed to keep our nametag on for a little while!) and this week Grandma Michelle, my brother Matt, and his girlfriend Katrina came with us.  DJ and I also took her to pajama storytime time on Wednesday night with Becca and her daughter Nova and we meet up with Sarah and her son Eli later on in the week.

St. Patty's Day and Great-Grandparents

We had a quiet St. Patrick's Day at home this year.  Isabelle got to wear some of her St. Patty's Day outfits (we got a lot of hand-me-downs and ended up with three!)  She has been very smily lately and has started making lots of sounds.  DJ and I took her to her first Baby & Me storytime at the library on Monday.  She fell asleep half way through, but enjoyed the stories and songs.  We picked up some new books and started reading Shel Silverstein books at home.  On Sunday, we took Isabelle to my parent's to meet Grandma and Grandpa Abts.

Park Time

Isabelle is six weeks old.  She is starting to be more interested in looking at objects and smiling at us!  Thursday we watched our next door neighbor Lilly (who was the flower girl in our wedding) while her mom was at work.  We took Isabelle on a long walk with Grandpa and went to a park that is close to our house.  Isabelle slept most of the time, but it was great getting her outside for awhile!

Adventures in Waukesha

This week was very busy for us!  On Wednesday, my mom and I took Isabelle to the library for the first time.  She slept most of the time, but we got her a few books and signed up for Baby & Me storytime and the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program.  We have been doing a lot of reading lately, and have been going through picture books pretty fast, so I started reading The Complete Tales of Winnie to Pooh to her.

Since the weather has been getting a little warmer out, DJ and I have been able to get Isabelle outside a bit.  She has gone on a few walks and loves the fresh air - they usually result in a long nap afterwards as well.  Isabelle also had her "first bike ride" with daddy the other day!

We're One Month Old Today!

Isabelle is one month old today - it's crazy how fast a month has gone by already.  She is a lot more alert and is staying awake for a little longer at a time now.  She is keeping mom very busy with her nearly constant eating, but is starting to sleep through the night!  We have also started reading books to her before bed time - our first book was Good Night Moon.

Isabelle also had her one month check up is up to 9 lbs. 13 oz. and 22 3/4 in.  She has out grown all of her newborn clothes by now so we have pulled out some fun new 3-month outfits.  Now that we have gotten a little more use to our schedule, we have had lots of friends and relatives stop over to meet Isabelle.  She is enjoying seeings lots of new faces!  It's amazing how quickly the days fill up now that I am home during the day.

My mom has been stopping over about once a week so Isabelle has gotten a lot of time with Grandma Michelle while I get a little time off to catch up on homework or get a few things done around the house.  Grandma Carla also babysat Isabelle this week so that DJ and I could have a couple of hours outside of the house.

Venturing Out

We have begun to get a little more adjusted to the busy schedule that goes along with having a newborn at home.  Isabelle still sleeps a lot during the day, but is only waking up a few times during the night.  We have started venturing out a little more with her, but it's hard to get outside a lot with all of the cold weather we have been having.  On Sunday, we took Isabelle to church for the first time with DJ's parents.  We got to introduce her to pastor Gary who married DJ and I in August.  I fed her right before we left and she slept the whole time - we even made it through breakfest afterward!

Isabelle also had her first "play date" this week with our friend Becca's daughter Nova who is 2 1/2.  Nova had lots of fun taking care of Isabelle and we got lots of fun pictures!

Our First Week at Home

We made it through our first full week home with Isabelle as we begin our new adventure of being parents.  DJ has been working a lot lately and Isabelle and I are busy filling our days with nursing, feeding, and burping and trying to fit in lots of naps and grad school homework in between! Luckily both of our families are nearby and we've had lots of help and visitors.  We also watched our first Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast.  Isabelle slept through almost all of it of course, but DJ and I have enjoyed watching our old favorites.

We have been making daily trips to the doctor to get Isabelle's blood sugar checked, but luckily it has stabilized.  She is getting so use to having her feet poked she didn't cry at all the last few visits.  On Wednesday, we found out that her bilirubin was high as well and set her up with a bili-blanket for the last couple of days.  She has been nicknamed our little "glow worm."

On Saturday, DJ was working and Isabelle and I took our first "long drive" to Germantown to meet Uncle Mike and spend sometime Grandma, Gido, and Matt.  Isabelle seems to like the car and slept nearly the whole way there!  We also got to meet some of our neighbors.

After DJ got home, we have a nice and quiet Valentine's Day eventing with Isabelle.  It's hard to imagine that it was only a year ago that we got engaged - it's been a very busy year for us!
